We offer a broad range of microbiological analyses for food and feed, environmental samples, and water and sewerage. We adapt our analyses to the customer’s products and needs.
Water quality public pools / bathing water
Verification of bathing water quality is performed in accordance with the regulations relating to environmental health protection for each local authority. It is not easy to assess bathing water quality based on a single sample, so it should be assessed based on the results of bathing water samples measured over multiple years.
Sample collection and parameters
Samples can be collected from fresh water, salt water and brackish water and should be collected weekly during the bathing season. Sampling should preferably start before the bathing season.
In order to assess the bacteriological standard of bathing sites, the following parameters are used:
- E.coli
- intestinal enterococci
pH, colour, and turbidity are also measured in certain cases. Water temperature, weather conditions (wind, precipitation, etc.) and the time of high and low tide should be recorded in connection with sample collection.
In order to assess bathing water quality, please refer to the EU bathing water directive or water quality standards for outdoor pools, IK-21/94.
Please also refer to the Norwegian regulations relating to environmental health protection.
