We offer a broad range of microbiological analyses for food and feed, environmental samples, and water and sewerage. We adapt our analyses to the customer’s products and needs.
Food and feed
Nemko Norlab offers a wide range of analyses for food and feed, from raw materials to finished products. We offer quick and safe analysis methods in accordance with applicable requirements specified in standards, regulations, or legislation. Our analysis team can help you create an analysis range tailored to your needs.
Food safety
Proper management and documentation of processes and products result are a hygiene factor in today’s competitive marketplace. With services and systems from Nemko Norlab you have access to your results and ongoing tests via the customer portal.
Producers must conduct their own risk assessments and determine their analysis requirements based on production and in accordance with the Norwegian Food Hygiene Regulations.

Chemical analyses
We offer declarations of nutritional content:
- protein
- fat
- carbohydrates
- ash
- dry matter/water content
- energy (kJ/100g or kcal/100g)
We also determine the content of any minerals and trace metals, fatty acid profiles, sugar types, vitamins, and antibiotics, either internally or in consultation with our subcontractors.

Safe Food advisory services
Some of our members of our advisory services department specialize in Safe Food. We can deliver customised and comprehensive products if you require assistance with self-checks or other issues. This could include sampling, measurements, analyses, testing, advice, assessment of results and customised reports in accordance with the client’s needs.
We have prepared sampling guidelines for offshore personnel and analysis setup proposals for food sampling. Contact our Safe Food Adviser Svein Gunnar Drabløs if you would like to request further information.
We also offer an e-learning course for “Offshore food hygiene”, available via our course portal.
Accredited analysis of fat and colour content for salmon
Spectrophotometric colour readings are taken at 475 nm. The colour level is also assessed through visual Salmofan measurements. We can conduct analysis of NQC section specimens at individual or aggregate specimen level (5-10 fish).
The methodology used to determine fat content can also be used for other types of fish, such as mackerel and herring. This is an unaccredited method.
